The Dog Days of summer are upon us. We need an escape from the mundane, a vacation, and a break from the everyday. Toes in the sand and crashing waves, whistling wind through mountain top trees or bright lights of the big city could be the remedy. A truly great vacation brings unexpected experiences and a level of fun that just can’t be had at home. Street festivals boast the fun and the experience of a new culture while still allowing for a level of comfort and familiarity.
The sights, sounds, and smells of the Noantri Festival in Rome puts “la dolce vita” back into the everyday with traditional Roman fare and dancing in honor of the patron saints. In Korea, it’s the Boryeong Mud Festival with its week long party on beaches and boardwalks that brings a combination of indulgence and purification.
